Was really excited to tackle this environment with the recent open world pipeline I’ve made!
I’ve done quite a few shoreline pieces but not where a large open world gameplay space can be implemented. The ocean effects I made this time had a refreshing take with only one Niagara mesh particle effect for the large sea spray and everything else being a dynamic material. Also All the ocean materials consist of just one single layer water shader and everything else being a dithered masked material drastically cutting down on the reliance for translucent materials and their added complexity.
Where the Ocean meets the land here in the Pacific Northwest is truly something beautiful and I hope I could convey a small part of that majesty it has imprinted on me here. :)
